2010
July 23rd, 2010 - Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles are brought together in the Bootcamp stages of the X Factor UK (Season 7) to form One Direction. (Video)

December 12th, 2010 - One Direction finish in Third Place on The X Factor. (Video)
- Despite finishing in Third Place, the boys are taken on by their Mentor Simon Cowell (Uncle Simon (; ) and his company SYCO as well as Sony Music. (Video - Start at 11:37)

February 19th, 2011 to April 5th, 2011 - One Direction participate in The X Factor Season 7 Tour.

August 10th, 2011 - What Makes You Beautiful is played for the first time on BBC Radio in the UK. (Video: Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4)

September 10th, 2011 - One Direction perform What Makes You Beautiful for the first time on live TV on Red or Black . (Video)

September 11th, 2011 - What Makes You Beautiful is released as One Direction’s first single. (Video)

September 15th, 2011 - One Direction’s Autobiography/Biography Dare To Dream is released. (buy)

November 18th, 2011 - One Direction’s first album, Up All Night, is released in the UK.

November 2011 - One Direction’s second single Gotta Be You is played for the first time on BBC Radio. (Video)

November 13th, 2011 - One Direction return to the X Factor for the first time since the finale in 2010. (Video)

February 12th 2012 - One Direction’s third single, One Thing, is released in the UK.

February 24th, 2012 - March 9th, 2012 - One Direction Perform for the first time in North America as they open Big Time Rush’s ‘Better with You’ tour. 

March 12th, 2012 - One Direction perform on The Today Show in NCY singing What Makes You Beautiful, One Thing and More Than This. (Full Video) 

March 21, 2012 - One Direction come in at #1 on the U.S. Billboard charts with their hit single, What Makes You Beautiful.  They make history as the first UK group to have their debut album enter at #1 on the chart, not even The Beatles, the Spice Girls or the Rolling Stones accomplished that!

March 31st, 2012 - One Directoin perform for the first time at an American award show, performing What Makes You Beautiful at the Kids Choice Awards. (Interview)(Video)

April 7th, 2012 - One Direction make their acting debut on a pre-recorded episode of iCarly. “i Go in One Direction”.
